1. Matalascañas (Huelva): The Sevillians' beach par excellence
Just 1 hour by car (about 100 km), Matalascañas is the classic that never disappoints. Its kilometres of white sand and the unmistakable "Tapón" (the remains of the Torre de la Higuera poking out of the water) are part of our summer memories.- Why go: It's very convenient, has beach bars to suit every taste and, if you venture a little towards the Doñana National Park area, you'll find stretches of almost untouched sand.
2. Valdelagrana (El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz): Ideal for families
Crossing into the province of Cádiz, a little over 1 hour and 15 minutes, we find Valdelagrana. It's a huge beach with calm, very shallow waters, which makes it perfect if you're going with children.- Why go: Its very long seafront promenade is full of life. After a good swim, there's nothing better than sitting down to a cone of fried pescaíto while looking out at the sea.
3. Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz): Beach and the best tapas
At roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes, Sanlúcar offers you the perfect combo: La Calzada beach (famous for its horse races in August) and food from another galaxy.- Why go: Because a beach day isn't complete without crossing to the Plaza del Cabildo to enjoy some tortillitas de camarones, langoustines and a good glass of well-chilled manzanilla.
