Responsible Entity

What are cookies?

Cookies are a set of data that a server stores in the user's browser to collect standard Internet log information and information about visitors' behaviour on a website. In other words, they are small text files that are stored on the computer's hard drive and serve to identify the user when they connect to the website again. Their purpose is to record the user's visit and store certain information. Their use is common and frequent on the web, as it allows pages to work more efficiently and achieve greater personalisation and analysis of user behaviour.

What types of cookies exist?

The cookies used on our website are session and third-party cookies, and they allow us to store and access information regarding language, the type of browser used, and other general characteristics predefined by the user, as well as to track and analyse the activity carried out, in order to make improvements and provide our services in a more efficient and personalised way.

Depending on how long they remain, cookies can be divided into session cookies or persistent cookies. Session cookies expire when the user closes the browser. Persistent cookies expire once the purpose they serve has been fulfilled (for example, keeping the user logged in to the We Are Going Faar services) or when they are deleted manually.

Name Type Expiry Purpose Class
__utma Third-party (Google Analytics) 2 years Used to distinguish users and sessions. Not exempt
__utmb Third-party (Google Analytics) 30 minutes Used to determine new sessions or visits Not exempt
__utmc Third-party (Google Analytics) At the end of the session Configured for use with Urchin Not exempt
__utmz Third-party (Google Analytics) 6 months Stores the source or campaign that explains how the user reached the website Not exempt

Additionally, depending on their purpose, cookies can be classified as follows:

Performance cookies

This type of cookie remembers your preferences for the tools found in the services, so you do not have to reconfigure the service each time you visit. By way of example, this category includes: volume settings for video or audio players, video streaming speeds compatible with your browser, and items saved in the "shopping cart" of e-commerce services such as shops.

Geolocation cookies

These cookies are used to find out which country you are in when a service is requested. This cookie is completely anonymous and is only used to help target content to your location.

Registration cookies

Registration cookies are generated once the user has registered or later opened their session, and are used to identify them within the services for the following purposes:

Keeping the user identified so that, if they close a service, the browser or the computer, and at another time or on another day return to that service, they will remain identified, thus facilitating their browsing without having to log in again. This functionality can be removed if the user clicks the [log out] function, in which case this cookie is deleted and the next time they enter the service the user will have to log in to be identified.

Checking whether the user is authorised to access certain services, for example, to take part in a competition.

Additionally, some services may use connectors with social networks such as Facebook or Twitter. When the user registers for a service with social network credentials, they authorise the social network to store a persistent cookie that remembers their identity and guarantees access to the services until it expires. The user can delete this cookie and revoke access to the services via social networks by updating their preferences on the specific social network.

Analytics cookies

Each time a user visits a service, a tool from an external provider generates an analytics cookie on the user's computer. This cookie, which is only generated during the visit, will serve on future visits to We Are Going Faar's services to anonymously identify the visitor. The main objectives pursued are:

To allow the anonymous identification of browsing users through the cookie (it identifies browsers and devices, not people) and therefore the approximate counting of the number of visitors and their trend over time.
To anonymously identify the most visited and therefore most attractive content for users. To know whether the user accessing is new or a repeat visitor.

Important: Unless the user decides to register for a We Are Going Faar service, the cookie will never be associated with any personal data that could identify them. These cookies will only be used for statistical purposes that help optimise the user experience on the site.

Advertising cookies

This type of cookie makes it possible to expand the information on the adverts shown to each anonymous user on We Are Going Faar's services. Among other things, they store the duration or frequency of display of advertising positions, the interaction with them, or the user's browsing patterns and/or behaviours, as they help build an advertising interest profile. In this way, they make it possible to offer advertising that matches the user's interests.

Third-party advertising cookies

In addition to the advertising managed by the We Are Going Faar websites on their services, the We Are Going Faar websites offer their advertisers the option of serving adverts through third parties ("Ad Servers"). In this way, these third parties may store cookies sent from We Are Going Faar's services to users' browsers, as well as access the data stored in them.

The companies that generate these cookies have their own privacy policies. Currently, the We Are Going Faar websites use the Doubleclick platform (Google) to manage these services. For more information, go to

http://www.google.es/policies/privacy/ads/#toc-doubleclick and http://www.google.es/policies/privacy/ads/.

How can I disable cookies in my browser?

Different browsers can be configured to notify the user when cookies are received and, if desired, to prevent their installation on the device. Likewise, the user can check in their browser which cookies are installed and their expiry date, and delete them.
