One of the province's most stunning landscapes. At Cerro del Hierro, mineral was mined since Roman times and, between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a Scottish company mined its mines on a large scale. After the rock was emptied, a karst labyrinth of limestone needles, passages and chasms was exposed, today a Natural Monument within the Sierra Norte de Sevilla Natural Park.
It is explored along marked trails that pass through tunnels and gorges. Wear comfortable footwear and water, and if you can, come in spring or autumn: in summer the heat is strong.
