What to do in Seville this week (8‑14 September)

admin

1. Mejor… Es posible (Inspirational comedy at Sala Cero)

What if happiness weren't a destination, but a way of seeing life? That is the premise of “Mejor es posible”, a kind of lecture in disguise as comedy — or the other way round — that will make you laugh at the things that usually worry you.

Víctor Carretero and Práxedes Nieto don't come to lecture you, but to take apart, with humour, those ideas that stop us enjoying everyday life. They talk about our relationships, what weighs on us, work, the crisis… and they do it with that spark you only find in the most authentic Sevillian theatre. A perfect plan if you need a good laugh and to leave with a slightly lighter heart.

When:

2. Wendy también vuela (Tender, poetic theatre at La Fundición)

A delicate and courageous production that focuses on care, on dependent people, and on what it means to support another person. Wendy is a young woman who accompanies patients in the most vulnerable stage of their lives. But there is no sadness here: there is tenderness, there is learning, and above all, a magical set where puppets represent those who need support.

The set, woven by the hands of real carers, is a huge blanket that shelters each character's story. A show that moves you and makes you reflect through the simplest things.

When:

3. Concert by Luis Cortés (Cartuja Center)

A concert for those looking for something different, urban, with strong production and immersive sound. Luis Cortés comes to break with convention and present his proposal on a modern stage like the Cartuja Center.
When: Saturday 13 September, 21:30
Where: Cartuja Center

4. HACKING SEVILLA – Germán Sánchez (Cybersecurity, afterwork style)

If you work in tech or are curious about cybersecurity, this plan is for you. Germán Sánchez presents a practical talk on malware analysis, in a relaxed atmosphere, beer in hand, followed by music to keep chatting without rushing.

When: Wednesday 10 at 19:00
Where: Bar Mutante (Alameda)
Tickets: https://www.meetup.com/hacking-sevillaqk14/events/310709498/

5. Party with DJ Cous Cous + Barrioteca (World rhythms in Alameda)

A party that mixes roots from around the world, danceable beats and the creative madness of DJ Cous Cous. From afrobeat to hard salsa, via cumbia or Eastern sounds. Barrioteca and Mutante join forces to kick off the season with good rhythm and plenty of art.

When: Friday 12 at 23:00
Where: Bar Mutante (Alameda)

6. Concert by Llaga + Bombetas (Alternative rock in a small format)

A date with live music for those who enjoy authentic sound, close contact with the musicians and concerts experienced body and soul. Ideal for the more alternative crowd.

When: Saturday 13 at 20:30
Where: Bar Mutante

7. We call it Ballet: La Bella Durmiente (Fluorescent ballet)

A unique experience for lovers of dance and visual spectacle. This reinterpretation of La Bella Durmiente mixes it all: fluorescent costumes, modern choreography, dancing lights and a narrative that flows to the rhythm of a story you already know… but had never seen like this.

When: Saturday 13 at 18:00
Where: Auditorio Cartuja
Tickets: https://auditoriocartuja.com/evento/we-call-it-ballet-la-bella-durmiente/

8. EUROSOIL 2025 Congress (Soil Science at FIBES)

A congress that, although not for everyone, has a significant impact on the European scientific landscape. If you are a student or professional in the environment, biology or sustainability, this is your event. Workshops, networking, exhibitions and presentations of international research.

When: From 7 to 12 September
Where: FIBES Sevilla

September in Seville: walks, parks and outdoor life

September is the perfect month to rediscover Seville at a relaxed pace. The heat starts to ease, the city fills with golden light and walks regain their charm. Here are some ideas:

1. Sunset stroll through the Parque de María Luisa

Walking under its centuries-old trees, crossing peacocks, sitting in a hidden gazebo… The park is beautiful this month, without the August swelter. Bring a book, a bottle of cold water, and let yourself wander.

2. Plaza de España at your leisure

Go early or at sunset. Stroll across its bridges, admire the details of the provincial benches or hire a little rowing boat. An experience that, though typical, never becomes routine.

3. Cycling or scooter routes along the river

From the Puente de Triana to the Alamillo, the Guadalquivir cycle path lets you see Seville with fresh eyes. You can stop for a drink on the riverside terraces or even treat yourself to hiring a kayak.

4. Triana and El Arenal, between tradition and modernity

Walk from Calle Betis to the Triana Market, cross through San Jorge, and finish in El Arenal, stopping at a terrace along the way. A simple route to enjoy two of the neighbourhoods with the most personality.

5. Hidden gardens: Murillo and Catalina de Ribera

Right next to the Santa Cruz neighbourhood, these gardens are an oasis of shade, tiled benches and a welcome silence. Perfect for an impromptu picnic or for catching your breath between visits.

6. Night stroll through the Old Town

When night falls, Seville's city centre comes alive in a new way. Streets such as Mateos Gago and Francos, or the Plaza de Santa Marta, have a unique charm with few people around, lit lanterns and historic façades.
