If you fancy seeing the Alamillo Park from a different angle, hop on the Little Railway. These are scale locomotives that run along the park's paths and, over the years, have become a very rewarding outing for families on a Sunday morning.
It is organised by the Sevillian association Amigos del Ferrocarril, which runs and maintains the trains and tracks on a voluntary basis, with the collaboration of the Regional Ministry of Public Works, Land Planning and Housing. Some of the engines run on steam generated by mineral coal.
- When: from 21 February to 31 October, Sundays and public holidays.
- Hours: from 11:00 to 14:00, non-stop.
- Where: Alamillo Park, Isla de la Cartuja. The departure point is about 100 metres from the Cortijo del Alamillo, where you can ask for more information.
- Price: one euro, a token amount that helps keep the locomotives running.
- Seats: first come, first served, until the train is full.
Each ride is about 500 metres long. And while you're there, take a look at the blue Henschel locomotive, a historic piece of Spanish railway that has been on display in the park since 2017.
