Did you know that Cervecería Casa Baturones was said to be connected by pipe to the Cruzcampo brewery? It was a myth, but it grew out of something real: it sold beer at an enormous rate. The General Archive of Andalusia tells its story in Featured Document no. 15, a free display in La Cartuja.
The document describes how, during the urban redevelopment of the Polígono San Julián in 1961, the owners of the premises fought through legal channels to avoid expropriation. A resistance that the record itself describes as numantine. The material comes from the land action enforcement files, which gather urban interventions by the Ministry of Housing in Andalusia since the 1960s. They were kept by the former EPSA and are now held at the Archive.
