FeriaLover Contest

admin

Are you ready to win the best weekend in the best city in the world? Are you a fan of the fair, and is it harder to get you away from the Real than the albero dust off your shoes? Then this is your FeriaLover contest!

SevillaLover has pulled out all the stops and is now in full FeriaLover mode, and together with our partners we want you to win an unforgettable weekend for two.

The FeriaLover contest is simple: take the most flamenco photo, the one that best represents our fair spirit, the one with the most flair dancing sevillanas, drinking rebujito or wearing a flower in your hair or lapel. Tag us in it with @sevillalover, follow us on Instagram @sevillalovercom and mention 3 friends in the comments. It's that easy!

We will choose the photos of 3 women and 3 men from all those you send us and publish them. The 2 with the most likes in each category will enjoy an unforgettable weekend.

What will you win?

All of this per couple:

      • – 2 breakfasts at @lapanochasevilla
      • – 1 drink per night at www.premiergimrum.com
      • – Excursion to the Roman Ruins of Itálica in Santiponce with @andalsur
      • – A gift box for thermal baths for two people

      !!!Isn't that a fantastic prize?!!!

The only thing you need to worry about is transport, which is not included.

You can take part from this very Saturday 22 April, Pescaíto night, until Sunday 30 April. On the 3rd we will publish the photos of the finalists so you can start voting, and a few days later our best FeriaLover contest fairgoers will be chosen from there.

And for those who are a little curious, here are some facts about our Seville fair:

The first fair was approved by the City Council on 18 September 1846 and opened on 18 April 1847 in the Prado de San Sebastián, with 19 booths. What was meant to be a livestock trading fair soon became one of the most representative and festive celebrations in Seville.

The first Feria de Abril de los Remedios was held from 1 to 6 May 1973 for liturgical calendar reasons, so it was opened at 9:00 pm on 30 April to resolve the paradox.

In 1877, due to the visit of Queen Isabella II of Spain to the Seville Fair, the city's authorities unified the fair's decoration to give it homogeneity and highlight all its splendour. That is when painter Gustavo Bacarisas, inspired by Chinese lanterns, created the current farolillos, which first adorned and then lit up the Real.

It is also said to be called the Real because of the price charged to travel by horse-drawn carriage to the fairground, although in reality many charged double.

The saddest memory of the Fair is undoubtedly that of 1964, when fire took centre stage. 67 booths burned, more than 50 people were injured to varying degrees and an elderly man died from his injuries, but the solidarity and speed with which the booths were rebuilt meant the fair carried on.

Neither fire, nor politics, nor the pandemic... nothing has been able to stop the fair. The will of the people of Seville to celebrate their way of life, their joy and their customs has proven far stronger than all of that, which is why every year more people, drawn to this second city full of magic that is created within Seville itself, want to come and share it with us.

And now you, as the SevillaLover you are, just have to show them by sending us your photo and taking part in our FeriaLover contest. You are the best representation of a Seville that loves and feels its fair.

      Good luck to everyone!
