The Mercadillo del Duque is located in the central Plaza del Duque de la Victoria, opposite El Corte Inglés, right in the heart of the old town. For decades it has established itself as a popular market for crafts, costume jewellery, leather, textiles and accessories, with a bohemian and multicultural feel. Its stalls, run by artisans and vendors with long-standing licences, offer belts, bracelets, scarves, purses, silverware and ethnic or "hippie" objects. Strolling along the Duque combines spontaneous shopping with a relaxed atmosphere, frequented by locals and visitors looking for authentic pieces at good prices. Surrounded by palm trees, cafés, shops and public transport, its urban atmosphere is enhanced by the statue of Velázquez that presides over the square.
