Since 1999, every Sunday morning the Plaza del Museo in front of the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville becomes a vibrant open-air art space. Near the statue of Murillo and beneath the centuries-old ficus and jacaranda trees, dozens of local and visiting painters, sculptors, photographers and ceramicists display their work. It is organised by the Plaza del Museo Artists' Association, which manages permits and works to professionalise the event. Artists show figurative or abstract paintings, prints, sculptures and photographs, engaging with the public. It is a relaxed cultural outing, ideal for having a beer in the bars nearby after viewing original and affordable art.
