Description
Our excursion to Doñana National Park Doñana, by 4×4 car is a journey into pure nature that will start from Seville accompanied by a specialised guide.
Our first stop will be the Sevillian town of Puebla del Río, at the gates of the marshes of Doñana. Crossed entirely by the Guadalquivir river, in this municipality we find one of the best-preserved wild olive forests in the area, the Dehesa de Abajo, which is home to the largest white stork colony in Europe. The small rise of this dehesa above the marsh is ideal for observing hundreds of birds in their natural habitat and the flat landscape of the marshland.
Every year, the marshes shelter more than 300 different bird species, which makes this place the most important natural area on the European continent. The area is also the largest rice field in Spain by planted area
We will continue our tour to the village of El Rocío, famous across the country for its annual pilgrimage. Here the typical Andalusian atmosphere of past centuries is recreated, as if on a journey back in time, with its sandy streets crossed by horses and people on foot.
In the village we will visit the famous Sanctuary of Our Lady of El Rocío, the Hermitage, where more than a million people gather every year to take part in the famous pilgrimage.
After getting to know the village of El Rocío, we will travel in our 4×4 cars to the Palacio del Acebrón next to the Rocina Stream and discover another of Doñana's ecosystems: the gallery forest. We will take a circular hiking route while interpreting animal tracks and getting to know some plant species endemic to this natural environment. After finishing this trail and taking a short break for lunch, enjoying the typical local cuisine, we will head to the next ecosystem on our visit: the beach.
Doñana's beach is the longest pristine beach in Spain. We will explore its distinctive moving dunes, where we can observe the flora and fauna characteristic of this ecosystem. In addition, if the weather is good, you can enjoy a refreshing swim that will be very rewarding. Don't forget to bring your swimwear if you visit us in summer!
At dusk, we will begin the return to Seville, crossing the wooded area of Doñana National Park so we can spot some of the large mammals that inhabit it, such as deer, foxes and wild boar, and try to see the park's icon, the famous Iberian lynx.
Please also remember that we run two-day visits to Doñana National Park from Seville with one night of accommodation included, and that this excursion is also available as a private tour.
