Although August in Seville may seem quiet, this week there are proposals for every taste: open-air cinema, art, flamenco, night walks and terraces with charm to enjoy the city even in the heat. Whether you are a resident or a visitor, here is a guide to experiencing Seville to the full from Monday 11 to Sunday 17 August 2025.
1. Summer Cinema at the CAAC – Wednesday 13 August
Free admission until capacity is reached In the courtyard of the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (Monasterio de la Cartuja), you can enjoy Azul Siquier (Spain, 2019, 54 min), directed by Felipe Vega. This documentary pays tribute to Carlos Pérez-Siquier, one of the great Spanish photographers of the 20th century, who devoted his life to capturing the light and colour of his native Almería. An artistic gaze full of humour and melancholy, perfect for summer nights. Screening: Wednesday 13 August at 22:00. More info: CAAC – Summer cinema 2025
2. Museo del Baile Flamenco
In the heart of the Santa Cruz neighbourhood, the Museo del Baile Flamenco is an essential experience for anyone who wants to feel Andalusian art in its fullest expression. Founded by dancer Cristina Hoyos, this space combines an interactive museum, live shows and workshops for all ages. The atmosphere is intimate, with a first-class tablao that moves even those who are not flamenco experts. Opening hours and tickets: Museo del Baile Flamenco
3. Contemporary art at Espacio Derivado and Di Gallery
If you are looking for fresh cultural plans, two galleries stand out in the Old Town:
- Espacio Derivado: champions emerging artists with bold, current proposals.
- Di Gallery: combines photography, painting and sculpture with an international approach. More information at Espacio Derivado and Di Gallery.
4. Guided visit: “Calder and nature” – CaixaForum
Until 29 August, CaixaForum Sevilla is hosting the exhibition “Art and Nature”, with pieces by Alexander Calder, a master at capturing the movement of animals and plants in sculptures and mobiles. The 20-minute guided visits take place Tuesday to Friday at 19:30 and 20:30, and include explanations from specialist educators. A short but very enriching experience. If you haven't seen it yet, now is the time.
5. Terraces for cool evenings
August in Seville is best enjoyed as the sun goes down, and nothing beats doing it on these terraces with charm:
- Kiosco de las Flores: in the heart of Triana, by the river, with pescaíto frito and direct views of the Torre del Oro.
- Casa Berrinche: a vibrant terrace in the centre, with music and a lively atmosphere.
- Casa Aníbal: elegant and welcoming, ideal for quiet dinners in good company.
- La Casa del Estanque: in the Parque de María Luisa, surrounded by greenery and with a menu perfect for a special night.
6. Night walk along the Guadalquivir
One of the simplest and most magical summer activities. From the Triana Bridge to the Torre del Oro, the river breeze and the city lights create a unique atmosphere. Ideal for couples, families or simply to unwind.
7. Tapas with air conditioning
In August, the best thing is to take refuge in cool bars and savour classics of Seville's cuisine: salmorejo, ensaladilla, spinach with chickpeas or cazón in adobo. Perfect for recharging your batteries and continuing to explore.
8. Early-morning cultural outings
The Real Alcázar and the Seville Cathedral are gems that deserve a visit first thing in the morning to avoid the heat and the crowds. Booking online makes entry easier and lets you spend the morning strolling through the Santa Cruz neighbourhood afterwards.
9. Escape to Aire de Sevilla
In a narrow street in the Santa Cruz neighbourhood, inside a Mudéjar palace-house with almost five centuries of history, you will find Aire de Sevilla. A space of thermal baths at different temperatures, surrounded by soft light and candles. They also offer massages and rituals with essential oils, perfect for unwinding in the heart of the city.
