Construida entre 1220 y 1221 durante el califato almohade, esta torre dodecagonal de 36 metros de altura formaba parte del sistema defensivo de la ciudad: mediante una gruesa cadena de hierro tendida hasta la orilla de Triana cerraba el paso del r\u00edo a los barcos enemigos. Su nombre proviene, seg\u00fan la tradici\u00f3n, de los azulejos dorados que recubr\u00edan originalmente su cuerpo superior y que refulg\u00edan sobre el agua. En su interior alberga hoy el <strong>Museo Mar\u00edtimo de Sevilla<\/strong>, con cartas de navegaci\u00f3n, modelos de barcos, instrumentos n\u00e1uticos y objetos relacionados con la Carrera de Indias.
